MAKE SURE YOU’RE READY TO BE A HOME OWNER
Owning your first home is an amazing feeling. I am speaking of course from my personal experience in 1999. There is almost nothing that can compare to receiving your first set of home keys and giving your new address to friends and family. And of course having them over for your first BBQ, Christmas holiday, pool party or baby shower. There is a sense of pride like no other, which is to say, I made it.
Home ownership however does come with additional responsibility other than just making your monthly payment. Make sure you are ready to take that next step and be honest with yourself about taking the ownership leap. But keep in mind, when done right, its one of the best feelings in the world.
LOOK FOR FINANCING
Once you are ready to make that leap into home ownership it is time to find the right loan for your new home.
When searching for the right loan option there are many companies at your discretion. We would be happy to recommend a lender who will provide you the background and answers needed to secure a good and affordable home loan.
These are a few of the first time borrow loans you can apply for;
- FHA (Federal Housing Administration) or VA (Veterans Administration) loans
- 1% down payment loans
- 30-year mortgage loans
As we strongly suggest throughout our site, get pre-approved before you go home shopping. Know what you can afford and be comfortable with that monthly payment.
IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT RATING
Getting any type of loan and especially a home loan requires good credit. Request a copy of your tri-merge credit report and find out how you can improve your credit score to obtain the best loan possible. There are many factors that go into your credit score. Some of the best factors to increase your score are; making monthly payments on time, keep your credit card balances low, do not over extend yourself with debt.
WORK WITH A TRUSTED REALTOR
Surrounding yourself with a team that has your back is a very reassuring feeling when there are so many pieces that go into the purchasing process. Your team will include , your realtor, your lender, your title company, your inspectors, your appraiser and a few others. Make sure they are all committed and on your team.
